Legion to assist veterans in crisis during Charlotte convention


WASHINGTON, Aug. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ The American Legion is sending a team of its experts to Charlotte, N.C., to conduct a town hall meeting and set up a Veterans Crisis Command Center (VCCC) to help veterans and family members affected by delays in medical care and benefits claims processing from the Department of Veterans Affairs. Verna Jones, director of the Legion s Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Division, said the decision was made to have the meeting and crisis center in Charlotte because not only will we be able to provide assistance to veterans in North Carolina, but also to veterans from across the country who attend our national convention. The town hall meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 25, at the Charlotte Convention Center, Rooms 209 and 210, Ballroom Level. The meeting is open to the general public and veterans are encouraged to attend, especially those affected by VA delays in medical care or claims processing. The American Legion will also
